1. The short version
- We collect as little as we can. Mostly your email address.
- We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not use ad trackers.
- We never see your card number. The payment company handles it.
- You can ask us to show, fix or delete your data at any time.
2. Who we are
RemoteMerit is a brand of AppsThatWork, a sole proprietorship registered in India. We decide how your data is used on this site. Contact: hello@remotemerit.com.
3. What we collect

We do not ask for your resume, your phone number or your address. You apply for jobs on other sites. What you give those sites is covered by their own privacy policy.
4. Cookies and browser storage
- One login cookie. It is set when you log in. It keeps you logged in. Scripts on the page cannot read it. It is removed when you log out.
- One short lived cookie while a login is in progress. It protects the login from being hijacked.
- Your light or dark theme choice. It is stored in your browser only. It is never sent to us.
- No advertising cookies. No cross site tracking.
We may count page views with a tool that uses no cookies and does not identify you.
5. Who receives your data
We use a few companies to run the site. They handle data for us and only for the job stated here.

We share data with nobody else. The only exception is when a law or a court order forces us. These companies may store data on servers outside your country. By using the site you agree to that transfer.
6. Mails we send
- Service mails: login links, trial and plan notices, payment receipts and important changes to the terms. You cannot turn these off while you have an account.
- Job alert mails and news: only if you turn them on. Every such mail has an unsubscribe link.
7. How long we keep data
- Account data: as long as you have an account. You can delete the account yourself on your account page. It is gone at once. You can also ask us by email. Then we delete it within 30 days.
- Payment records: as long as tax law in India requires, even after the account is deleted.
- Technical logs: a short time, usually days or weeks.
- Mails you sent us: up to two years.
8. Your rights
You can ask us for any of these. Write from the email address of your account to hello@remotemerit.com.
- A copy of the data we hold about you.
- A fix of data that is wrong.
- Deletion of your account and your data.
- To take back a consent you gave, such as for job alert mails.
We answer within 7 working days. These rights apply to everyone. They include the rights under the data protection law of India, the GDPR for people in Europe and similar laws elsewhere. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country. We would like the chance to fix the problem first.
9. Security
- The whole site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- There are no passwords to steal. Login is by email link or by Google.
- Database rules make sure that a user can read only their own profile and plan.
- Payment data stays with the payment company.
No system is perfectly safe. If a breach affects your data we tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
The site is for adults looking for work. It is not meant for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may change this policy. The date at the top shows the last change. For an important change we tell users with an account by email.
